MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates at New York Mets Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Noah Syndergaard and the New York Mets dominated the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight at Citi Field and won 11-0. Syndergaard struck out eleven, didn't walk anybody, and didn’t give up a run until the top of the ninth inning. Jeurys Familia took over for the last two outs, and one more run scored on a Wilmer Flores throwing error, but Syndergaard’s performance was outstanding.

And it wasn’t just Syndergaard who had a great night. The Mets scored three runs in the first inning on a bases loaded dribbler by Wilmer Flores and a two-out, two-run double by Matt Reynolds. In the third, Kelly Johnson hit a very long home run for the Mets’ fourth run of the night.

Johnson and Rene Rivera singled in a run apiece in the fifth. Wilmer Flores hit a two-run home run in the sixth, and James Loney doubled in one more in that inning. And in the eighth, Rivera singled in another run for the Mets’ eleventh and final run.

Full recap to follow.
