Last weekend, in getting swept at home in a three game series to the last-place Atlanta Braves, the New York Mets sunk lower than any anticipated they would coming into their NL Pennant-defending season.
Now, just five days later and having notched two encouraging wins over the Kansas City Royals in the meantime, the Mets will give it another go. Thursday night marks the beginning of a four game redemption series against the Braves in Atlanta. The Mets will field the same three starting pitchers as they did for the series in New York, plus Bartolo Colon for Game Four.
First up, however, is Matt Harvey. He comes fresh off another disappointing start after stringing together three promising ones in his previous games. Finding run support for Harvey has been a struggle to say the least. Terry Collins finally has his starting catcher back in the lineup, but will miss Yoenis Cespedes, benched (but not inactive) with a wrist injury. The remainder of the Mets' lineup will meet Braves right-hander Matt Wisler, who shut down the Mets last may, giving up only one hit in eight shutout innings.
