Final score: Braves 5, Mets 2—Comeback comes up short

The Mets didn’t score until the ninth inning and lost to the Braves.

MLB: New York Mets at Atlanta Braves Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets lost to the Braves by a 5-2 score at Turner Field this afternoon.

Bartolo Colon was very good in his first start after he was drilled on his right thumb by a line drive. He gave up one run on six hits in seven innings and now has a 2.86 ERA on the season. But the bullpen—Antonio Bastardo and Logan Verrett—allowed four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Atlanta a 5-0 lead.

The Mets rallied a bit in the ninth inning, scoring a couple of runs, but they ultimately came up short.
