Final score: Nationals 11, Mets 4—Forget this game ever happened

After taking an early four-run lead, the Mets lost by a lot.

MLB: New York Mets at Washington Nationals Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets took a 4-0 lead with Noah Syndergaard on the mound and wound up losing 11-4 to the Nationals tonight. Syndergaard gave up five runs in the bottom of the third inning, which made for his worst inning and worst start of an otherwise excellent season. When he left, though, the Mets were only down by one.

Sean Gilmartin gave up five runs in two innings, and Erik Goeddel gave up one more in his pair of innings. There was lots of bad baseball along the way, and even the victorious Nationals made a couple of really bad plays in the process.

Delete this game from your memory, and hope for better results tomorrow.
