Noah Syndergaard wasn't even at his best, but he still struck out nine and walked just one as the Mets beat the Marlins 6-2 in the first of three games in Miami. Syndergaard gave up two runs, the first of which came on a Marcell Ozuna home run in the second.
The Mets answered that with an Asdrubal Cabrera home run in the fourth, and later in that inning, Wilmer Flores hit a broken bat, two-out single to put the Mets up 2-1. Syndergaard allowed another run in the sixth on a sac fly by Ozuna, but the Mets answered that quickly, as James Loney hit a two-run bomb in the seventh.
After Addison Reed threw a fantastic eighth inning, Rene Rivera really put the game out of reach with a bomb of his own in the top of the ninth.
