The Mets beat the Brewers 5-2 in the first of four games in Milwaukee, as Bartolo Colon made another good start. Curtis Granderson began the game with a home run, and the Mets never trailed. Yoenis Cespedes singled in a run in the third, and after Colon gave up one run in the seventh—the only run he allowed—Kevin Plawecki drove in a pair of runs with a bases-loaded single in the eighth.
Those runs proved important. Addison Reed gave up a rare run in the bottom of the eighth, but the Mets finished that inning with a two-run lead. And they tacked on one more in the ninth after Juan Lagares hit a hustle double and came around to score on a Matt Reynolds single.
Full recap to follow.
