The Mets opened the second half of the season by beating the Phillies by a 5-3 score in Philadelphia. The Mets jumped out to a 4-0 lead thanks to a solo home run from Juan Lagares in the third and a three-run home run from Neil Walker in the sixth.
Bartolo Colon threw five scoreless innings but gave up three runs in the bottom of the sixth before the bullpen took over. From there, Hansel Robles, Jerry Blevins, Addison Reed, and Jeurys Familia shut out the Phillies the rest of the way. And the Mets tacked on an insurance run when Jose Reyes grounded into a fielder’s choice in the seventh.
