deGrom meets Fernandez as 2nd place in the NL East hangs in the balance.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Jacob deGrom and the Mets will hope to do the near-impossible tonight: beat Jose Fernandez at home. The Cuban Cy Young candidate is a staggering 25-1 at Marlins Park in his impressive career. If the Mets can somehow edge out Fernandez and the Fish, they will reclaim second place in the NL East. A win tonight would also give the Mets their first series win since the All-Star break.
