2016 Mets draft profile: RHP Eric Villanueva

With their 31st selection in the 2016 draft (Round 30, Pick 910), the Mets selected Eric Villanueva, a pitcher from Puerto Rico.

Villanueva's fastball sits in the mid-80s and has hit as high as 88 MPH. The youngster is lean, and still has time to both grow and fill out, and as such, he will most certainly add additional velocity to his fastball. He complements the pitch with a curveball and a change-up, both of which are still very raw and in development.

Villanueva signed with the Mets for a $50,000 bonus and is now playing with their Gulf Coast League affiliate.
