The Mets and Cardinals are only half a game apart in the NL Wild Card standings as they begin their rain-delayed series this afternoon in the first game of a doubleheader. Both clubs turn to their youngest and hardest-throwing starter. Noah Syndergaard takes the mound for the Mets to face Carlos Martinez.

The Mets look to string together their first back-to-back wins of the second half. The Cardinals are a rival team with playoff aspirations, and a series victory would help the Mets gain some of the momentum needed to make the playoffs.
