The Mets’ winning streak came to an end as the Marlins beat them 5-2 tonight at Citi Field. Giancarlo Stanton did all of the lifting for Miami, as he hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the seventh against Steven Matz and a three-run home run against Erik Goeddel in the eighth.

Before all of that Yoenis Cespedes hit a long solo home run in the fourth that gave the Mets a 1-0 lead at the time. Alejandro De Aza hit a pinch-hit solo home run of his own in the eighth against Fernando Rodney, but the Mets didn’t score any other runs in the game. And in his return to the major league field, Jose Reyes, who was handed the leadoff spot, went 0-for-4 with a strikeout, two ground outs, and an infield pop out.
