The Mets were unable to win their second-straight series, as the Diamondbacks beat them 13-5 on Wednesday night. They took a 1-0 lead in the first when Jose Reyes scored on a wild pitch, but Jon Niese gave up a two-run home run to Rickie Weeks and a solo home run to Yasmany Tomas in the fourth to give Arizona a 3-1 lead.

Niese got two outs in the fifth but left a man on base for Erik Goeddel, who issued a walk and gave up a three-run home run to weeks to make it 6-1. Goeddel didn’t record an out, but after Seth Lugo threw one-and-a-third scoreless, Gabriel Ynoa gave up three runs in the eighth before Josh Edgin allowed four runs in the eighth. It wasn’t pretty.

The Mets mounted a mini comeback in the ninth, as Curtis Granderson hit a solo home run and Rene Rivera hit a two-run home run. They got a couple more baserunners in that inning, too, but didn’t score any more runs.

Full recap to follow.
