The team has two of its regulars back.

As expected, the Mets have activated outfielder Yoenis Cespedes and shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera from the disabled list. To make room for them on the active roster, the team has optioned T.J. Rivera and Ty Kelly to Triple-A Las Vegas, both of whom have made their major league debuts this year.

In 32 plate appearances over nine games, Rivera handled himself pretty well at the plate, as he hit .355/.344/.419 with a 105 wRC+. His defense at third base left something to be desired, as he made three errors in just 43.2 innings at the position. Kelly has had multiple stints with the Mets this year, and in 57 plate appearances, he also fared okay, as he hit .250/.351/.375 with a 102 wRC+.

With those moves, the Mets’ bench includes catcher Rene Rivera, infielders Kelly Johnson and Wilmer Flores, and outfielders Alejandro De Aza and Justin Ruggiano, though those five will obviously get their share of starts, too.
