Final score: Mets 2, Giants 0—Cespedes has got the power

Noah Syndergaard ain’t bad, either.

MLB: New York Mets at San Francisco Giants Lance Iversen-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets defeated the Giants 2-0 in San Francisco tonight and finished a four-game series there with a split. Noah Syndergaard was excellent, as he threw eight shutout innings with six strikeouts and two walks. And the Mets were held without a hit through six innings, but Curtis Granderson doubled to lead off the top of the seventh before Yoenis Cepsedes hit a home run—his third in two days—to put the Mets on the board first and for good.

Despite Syndergaard’s excellence through eight, Terry Collins turned to Jeurys Familia to pitch the ninth. He gave up a single but looked dominant otherwise as he finished the victory.

Full recap to follow.
