Final score: Mets 2, Marlins 1—Yoenis Cespedes is God

The Mets won a dramatic game in ten innings.

MLB: Miami Marlins at New York Mets Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets opened their four-game series against the Marlins with a walk-off 2-1 win in the tenth inning on a bomb by Yoenis Cespedes. Some other things happened before that, but Cespedes’s home run was the latest chapter in his storied Mets history.

As for those other things, Rafael Montero threw five scoreless innings despite walking six Marlins hitters. Neither team scored until Addison Reed gave up a rare run in the top of the eighth. Jose Reyes almost-single-handedly tied the game in the bottom of the inning, as he doubled, moved to third on a fly ball out, and scored on a wild pitch.

Love the Mets.
