The Mets managed a series split with the Yankees in the Bronx, as Bartolo Colon threw six-and-two-thirds solid innings and allowed only one run. The Mets scored four runs in the fifth inning on a Kelly Johnson solo home run and a Jay Bruce three-run home run. Bruce’s home run was his first hit in a Mets uniform.
The Yankees’ only run came in the seventh inning after Gary Sanchez doubled and was knocked in by Aaron Hicks.
Jeurys Familia allowed two baserunners on a hard-hit line drive and an infield dribbler before buckling down and inducing a game-ending double play ball from Rob Refsnyder.
