The Mets defeated the Twins 3-0 at Citi Field. The unshakable Bartolo Colon was once again outstanding as he pitched seven shutout innings. He helped himself in the first when he turned a slick double play, and later in the game he weaved his way out of a bases loaded situation. Colon also picked off a baserunner who reached when Yoenis Cespedes made an error on a routine play in left.
It was back-to-back solo blasts by Jose Reyes and Asdrubal Cabrera off starter Jose Berrios that put the Mets on the board in the third, and Yoenis Cespedes tacked on a run with a RBI single in the seventh.
Addison Reed overpowered the Twins in the eighth, which left it up to Jeurys Familia in the ninth. Familia found himself in trouble again when the tying run came up to the plate, but a flyout to Cespedes secured the save and the victory.
