Triple-A: Las Vegas 51s (66-73)

LAS VEGAS 5, EL PASO 2 (Box)

Tyler Herron threw 6.2 innings of two-run ball last night as the 51s split their four-game series in El Paso. Seven of the team’s eight hits came from players who have spent a portion of the season with the Mets, including Eric Campbell, who hit his seventh home run of the season last night. After Herron’s excellent efforts, Chasen Bradford and Paul Sewald were equally as good, pitching 2.1 perfect relief innings to close this game out.

Double-A: Binghamton Mets (62-74)

ALTOONA 7, BINGHAMTON 0 (Box)

Oddly enough, the B-Mets outhit the Curve last night 11-to-9, but allowing eight walks and committing two errors propelled the team to defeat last night. Joe Shaw was called up from Columbia to make the start, and while he wasn’t awful it simply wasn’t good enough on a night when his teammates’ bats went silent. Logan Taylor did have a trying night as the Curve tagged him for four runs in his 1.1 innings of relief.

Advanced-A: St. Lucie Mets (72-60 / 37-28)

ST. LUCIE 4, JUPITER 3 (Box)

Luis Guillorme and Jhoan Urena each had two RBIs last night as the Mets held off a late surge to defeat the Hammerheads 4-3. Chris Flexen threw five hitless innings to get the victory while Corey Taylor continued his excellent season in getting his 20th save.

St. Lucie concludes the season with a three-game set starting tonight at home against these Hammerheads in a series that has FSL playoff implications. Currently, the Mets have a 1.5 game lead over Jupiter, so a victory in any of the three games will clinch for our FSL heroes.

Low-A: Columbia Fireflies (65-71 / 29-37)

COLUMBIA 4, WEST VIRGINIA 1 (Box)

Eudor Garcia’s three-RBI night paced the Fireflies to a 4-1 victory last night over the Power. Luis Silva made his A-Ball debut after being called up from the GCL Mets and the 19-year-old threw 4.1 solid innings before ceding to the bullpen. The tandem of Witt Haggard, Tyler Bashlor, and Jimmy Duff pitched the final 4.2 innings in shutout fashion, sending the Spirit Communications Park faithful home happy.

SS-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (35-37)

ABERDEEN 5, BROOKLYN 4 (Box)

Gabriel Llanes had a tough start last night, allowing five runs in 5.1 innings and taking the loss to the IronBirds. Brooklyn bats struck out 14 times and, despite their best efforts to mount a comeback, went down meekly in order in the ninth. Brandon Brosher did hit his fifth home run of the season, and Michael Paez hit an RBI double in the fifth that tied the game at three, but it was all in vain.

Rookie: Kingsport Mets (27-41)

KINGSPORT 9, BRISTOL 8 F/10 (Box)

The K-Mets’ season came to a close last night, and while they will not be playing in the Appy League postseason, they ended with a thrilling comeback and an extra-inning win over the Bristol Pirates. Facing deficits of 4-0 and 7-4, Kingsport rallied both times to tie the game and force extra innings. In the extra frame, the Pirates took an 8-7 lead and forced the Mets down to their last out in the bottom half when Bristol third baseman Julio De La Cruz played hero, throwing away Dionis Rodriguez’s ground ball and enabling Jeremy Wolf and Jose Miguel Medina to score. Kingsport finished the season strong, going 8-2 in their final 10 and it just feels so appropriate to end an Appy League season on a game-winning error.

Rookie - GCL Mets (26-29)

GCL MARLINS 8, GCL METS 1 (Box)

While their Kingsport brethren finished their season with a bang, the GCL Mets went out with a whimper, falling to the GCL Marlins 8-1 yesterday.
