Final Score: Braves 4, Mets 3—Mets fall apart in late innings

That was not good.

MLB: Atlanta Braves at New York Mets Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets fell to the Braves 4-3 with the help of some over-managing and Ender Inciarte. Terry Collins brought Addison Reed into a 3-2 ballgame in the seventh and then pulled him in the eighth in favor of Josh Smoker to face Freddie Freeman. Smoker did not retire Freeman, which led to an early appearance by Jeurys Familia. Familia entered with runners on, and after a double steal and a sacrifice fly, the game was tied.

The ninth was no better for Familia, as the Braves took the lead. Hits by Jace Peterson and Emilio Bonifaco set up runners in scoring position for Inciarte. He grounded out to bring in the go-ahead run.

Inciarte was not done doing damage against the Mets. They were able to get Yoenis Cespedes up to bat in the bottom of the ninth with two runners on, and he blasted one to center that Inciarte made a leaping grab on to complete the crushing loss.

Bartolo Colon did well in his start, and Asdrubal Cabrera continued his recent stretch of hot hitting, but unfortunately that is not what will be remembered after the dust settles.

Full recap to follow.
