The Mets trailed by two in the ninth and 11th innings against the Phillies. They won 9-8 anyway, on a three-run walk-off home run from Asdrubal Cabrera.
Jose Reyes hit a two-run bomb of his own to tie things up at six in the bottom of the ninth after Brandon Nimmo led the inning off with a single for the second night in a row. Reyes was also instrumental in the team’s 11th inning rally, lining a single to left after Michael Conforto walked with one out, setting the stage for Cabrera.
Yoenis Cespedes went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Pinch-hitter Lucas Duda appeared to win the game for the Mets in the bottom of the 10th, but his ripped line drive to right field soared about a foot foul of the pole.
