Although they were facing Julio Teheran and trailed 4-0 earlier in the game, the Mets beat the Braves 6-4 tonight in Atlanta. That’s the team’s sixth-straight win, and it keeps them in possession of the second Wild Card spot in the National League.
Robert Gsellman gave up a run in the second and three more in the fifth, which made for a not-so-great start. Teheran kept the Mets off the board through five innings, but Yoenis Cepedes lined a single off his right arm in the sixth, and Teheran then surrendered a two-run home run Curtis Granderson to cut the Braves’ lead in half.
The Mets completed the comeback with a four-run eighth inning, with an assist from shortstop Dansby Swanson, who booted a double play ball and didn’t record any outs. The Mets capitalized, and their bullpen kept the Braves from scoring again.
Full recap to follow.
