We give you the nickname, you tell us the player.

Four years ago, David Wright earned the nickname “Captain America” based on his heroic performance for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. For this week’s Mind Boggler, we’re asking you to identify other Mets players based on their nicknames.

Mets nicknames

While no Met has committed to playing for Team USA in this year’s WBC, several Mets major and minor leaguers will be playing for other teams: Asdrubal Cabrera for Team Venezuela, Xorge Carrillo for Team Mexico, Nabil Crismatt for Team Colombia, Ty Kelly for Team Israel, Seth Lugo and T.J. Rivera for Team Puerto Rico, Brandon Nimmo for Team Italy, and Jose Reyes for Team Dominican Republic.

To qualify for this list, position players needed to play at least 100 games and pitchers at least 25 games in a Mets uniform. Hat tip to Baseball-Reference for providing these nicknames on their player pages.

You’ll have ten minutes for this quiz. Good luck, and remember to post your time and score in the comments!
