The wait for Mets baseball will be a little shorter this winter. Thanks to a regular season schedule that starts in late March, New York’s spring training action begins on February 23 with a home date against the Braves at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
The warm-up slate wraps up with a home game against the Marlins on March 25. That’s four days before the regular season opener against the Cardinals at Citi Field.
In total, the Mets will play 17 home spring training games in February and March as well as 14 road games. Those 31 contests will feature eight different opponents, including a pair of clashes with the Yankees at Port St. Lucie on March 7 and at Tampa on March 10.
The Mets haven’t gotten a chance to make any big offseason moves, but pitchers and catchers will be reporting in just three months, and from there we’re just days away from baseball players in Mets uniforms doing baseball things against players from other teams.
