Meet The Mets

It’s quiet out there. Perhaps a little too quiet. The post Thanksgiving lull is very real and the hot stove is decidedly cold, not just for the Mets but all around baseball.

Dominic Smith went into detail about this season’s exit interview with Sandy Alderson.

Ron Darling offered his vote of confidence on new manager Mickey Callaway.

Around The National League East

Multiple sources have said that if Giancarlo Stanton doesn’t waive his no-trade clause, the Marlins may keep him on the team as the lone star during their pending rebuild.

If the Yankees don’t tap bench coach Rob Thomson for their managerial role, the Phillies might be interested in his service.

Around Major League Baseball

Speaking of the Yankees, we are approaching December and they are the only major league team without a manager. Joel Sherman has some thoughts on how that their patience may not be the wisest move.

Former Met Carlos Beltran will be throwing his name in the ring for the Yankees managerial opening as well.

The best available reliever this off season may have been Dennis Sarfate, who played in Japan last year. Teams are interested, but its he’d likely have to be posted in order to come back to the states.

Scott Boras is unsurprisingly upset with the posting system that will allow Shohei Ohtani to sign with an MLB team this winter.

If you think that Ohtani and Stanton are holding up free agency this year, you would probably be wrong. Jeff Passan has a few ideas on why things have been relatively inactive so far.

Happy birthday to former-Met slugger Howard Johnson!
