Meet the Mets

The quest to land Shohei Ohtani is heating up for several teams, but sadly the Mets are not among them.

Both the Mets and Yankees now have rookie managers, and there are several questions they will need to answer to show they can handle their new positions.

There are a few Mets that could potentially grow under Mickey Callaway’s watch.

Around the National League East

The Marlins have potential trades in place with both the Cardinals and Giants that involve Giancarlo Stanton, but of course the power still remains with the slugger himself and his no-trade clause.

Around Major League Baseball

Despite making a push for the Japanese star, the Yankees are out of the running to obtain Ohtani.

Both the Mariners and Giants are considered to be among the favorites to land the two-way Japanese slugger.

Some of the top free agents could have a difficult time finding a contending team that is in need of their services.

The Padres gave controversial GM A.J. Preller a contract extension.

Angels’ pitching prospect Nate Smith will miss the entire 2018 season after undergoing shoulder surgery.

This Date in Mets History

The Mets traded Butch Huskey to the Mariners for pitcher Leslie Brea on this date in 1998.
