Meet the Mets

The Winter Meetings are right around the corner and the Mets will focus on a few areas of need during the meetings.

There are quite a few free agents available that could help the team in almost every area that needs improving.

Amed Rosario and Dominic Smith could see significant playing time next season and there are some aspects of their game they can look to improve.

Around the National League East

The Braves signed infielder Christian Colon to a minor league deal.

Giancarlo Stanton is expected to make a decision by the end of the week regarding the potential trade with the Giants. Whatever he decides could set into motion the sluggish offseason.

Around Major League Baseball

The Yankees officially introduced Aaron Boone as the next manager of the Bronx Bombers.

The Padres are interested in signing free agent Eric Hosmer, and Wil Myers would be ok with switching positions if that happens.

Both the Angels and the Mariners acquired international slot money from the Twins.

The Indians and Twins are the two latest teams to announce that they will be extending protective netting at their stadiums.

The Oakland Athletics were hoping to get a new stadium in the near future but the plan they had in place fell through after negotiations broke down.

Yesterday at Amazin’ Avenue

Aaron Yorke thinks Trevor Plouffe could be a good fit for the Mets next season.

This Date in Mets History

The Mets acquired Howard Johnson in a trade with the Tigers on this date in 1984, but they also lost quite a few beloved figures on this date as well.

Wally Backman was traded to the Twins in 1988 and Keith Hernandez signed with the Indians one year later. Ten years after Keith left, John Olerud signed with the Mariners and in 2001 Robin Ventura was traded to the Yankees.
