This is part five of a six-part Mind Boggler series focused on members of the Mets’ front office and coaching staff. So far, we’ve covered general managers, managers, pitching coaches, and hitting coaches. For this week’s Mind Boggler, we’d like you to name every first base coach in Mets history.
The Mets have had a lot of turnover at this coaching position. In fact, the team has had 26 different first base coaches in its 55-year history. The Mets hired their current first base coach, Tom Goodwin, prior to the 2012 season. Before joining the Mets, Goodwin was a coach in the Red Sox’ organization. He also enjoyed a 14-year major league career from 1991 to 2004, when he hit .268/.332/.339 (74 wRC+) and stole 369 bases for six different teams.
You’ll have six minutes for this quiz. Good luck, and remember to post your time and score in the comments!
