Syndergaard struck out seven before a blister led to his exit.

The Mets continued their opening day excellence with a dominant 6-0 win over the Braves at Citi Field this afternoon. The game started out as a pitching duel, but eventually turned into a laffer after the Mets’ big seventh inning.

Noah Syndergaard pitched masterfully for the Mets, striking out seven and walking none over his six innings of work. He was more or less matched by Julio Tehran, who also went six innings and gave up no runs. Syndergaard left the game after six due to a blister on his right middle finger.

The scoring didn’t begin until both starting pitchers were out of the game. In the seventh inning, Wilmer Flores scored the Mets’ first run on an single by Asdrubal Cabrera after a call at the plate was overturned. After a Curtis Granderson sacrifice fly, a Jay Bruce bases loaded walk, and a Lucas Duda three-run double, the Mets took a 6-0 lead.

Hansel Robles and Fernando Salas pitched two perfect innings in the seventh and eighth, before Robert Gsellman made things a little interesting in the ninth inning, but eventually got through the inning after a bone-headed running play.
