Triple-A - Las Vegas 51s (15-19)

OMAHA 5, LAS VEGAS 1 (Box)

51s hitters struck out 14 times last night in dropping the opener of an a 8-game homestand last night 5-1 to the Storm Chasers. Omaha starter Josh Staumont collected 10 strikeouts in just five innings of work but also allowed five walks that couldn’t be converted into runs by the 51s. The Vegas offense had plenty of opportunities in this game, but an 0-for-10 clip with runners in scoring position and 12 runners left on base doomed any comeback efforts. Desmond Jennings’ eighth-inning home run prevented the shutout, but was too little and too late.

ROSTER ALERT: Arnaldo Berrios assigned to Brooklyn Cyclones from Las Vegas.

ROSTER ALERT: Alberto Baldonado assigned to Las Vegas from Binghamton.

Double-A - Binghamton Rumble Ponies (18-12)

AKRON 1, BINGHAMTON 0 (Box)

PJ Conlon was downright stellar last night, throwing eight innings allowing only one run on five hits. However, the Rumple Pony offense was the polar opposite of stellar, collecting only two hits against Rubber Ducks pitching as our Eastern League heroes fell by the slimmest of margins, 1-0.

ROSTER ALERT: Cory Burns assigned to Binghamton from Las Vegas.

ROSTER ALERT: Tim Peterson assigned to Binghamton from Las Vegas.

ROSTER ALERT: Gustavo Nunez assigned to Binghamton.

Advanced-A - St. Lucie Mets (15-20)

JUPITER 4, ST. LUCIE 2 (Box)

Justin Dunn continued to struggle in his first full professional season, allowing four runs in 5.1 innings and taking his third loss on the season. Currently, last year’s first-round pick has a 6.89 ERA in 32.2 innings with a 1.84 WHIP and FSL opponents hitting .333 against him. St. Lucie had chances to prevent Dunn from taking the loss but went 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position including a one-out bases loaded situation in the top of the ninth that bore no fruit and clinched defeat. Jeff Diehl did hit his third home run on the season, a solo shot in the seventh to cut the deficit to two.

ROSTER ALERT: Dale Burdick assigned to St. Lucie from Binghamton.

Low-A - Columbia Fireflies (17-16)

GAME 1

COLUMBIA 7, DELMARVA 4 F/7 (Box)

The Colaflies won their third straight last night, defeating the Shorebirds 7-4 in the first game of a doubleheader. Despite falling behind 1-0 early, the Firefly bats came alive scoring four runs in the second and three in the third to break it open. Bats that were especially alive were Ali Sanchez, who went 3-for-3 with two runs and Dash Winningham who belted his third home run of the season. Merandy Gonzalez continues his torrid start, allowing three runs (one earned) and striking out seven in his five innings of work. The 21-year old Dominican now has a 1.88 ERA in 38.1 innings this season with 35 strikeouts and just six walks.

GAME 2

NO GAME (Inclement Weather)
