The Mets lost a squeaker to the Brewers in Milwaukee tonight by the score of 11-4. It seems so long ago now, but the Mets actually held a 4-2 lead midway through this game before things really got out of hand.
The Brewers scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to quickly turn a small deficit into a comfortable surplus. Robert Gsellman loaded the bases on a walk sandwiched between two singles, then allowed a third single to bring home the Brewers’ third run of the game and first of the inning.
Hansel Robles came on with the bases still loaded and nobody out, and by the time Milwaukee was done swinging they had built a six-run cushion the Mets would never remotely threaten.
Notable box score entries for the Mets tonight included a Jose Reyes appearance in center field and a 1-2-3 inning by Rafael Montero.
Full recap to follow.
