The Mets lost another game in the desert tonight, dropping their second straight series and their second straight game to the Diamondbacks, 5-4. Tommy Milone started for the Mets, and was about what you’d expect, giving up five runs in five and two-thirds innings, including Yasmany Tomas’s fifth straight game with a home run against the Mets. The game also included an errant throw to home from Lucas Duda, a memory that many Mets fans had repressed since the 2015 World Series.
Rene Rivera and Curtis Granderson provided the offense for the Mets tonight, but Milone’s poor start put the Mets in too deep of a hole to dig out from. Diamondbacks starter Zach Greinke was not great, but he was good enough tonight. If there was a little bit of good news tonight, it was that the bullpen didn’t allow a run, which seems like a rarity these days.
This marks the sixth straight loss for the Mets, and at six games under .500, the team really needs to change or adjust something, or the season will begin to slip away from them before long.
Full recap to follow.
