Triple-A - Las Vegas 51s (16-23)

IOWA 8, LAS VEGAS 7 / 10 (Box)

Of all of the PCL games this year that Las Vegas has been involved in, this one might’ve been the PCL-iest. Five different players slugged home runs, with three of them being 51s- Xorge Carrillo, Desmond Jennings, and Travis Taijeron all went yard. The lead changed hands multiple times, but Iowa tied things up 7-7 in the eighth inning when Taylor Davis hit a sac fly to right to score Victor Caratini. Things stayed tied in the ninth, so into extras the game went. Thankfully, it didn’t last into the extreme wee hours of the night, as Erik Goeddel was not able to get the necessary outs to end the inning after putting runners in scoring position, like he did in the ninth. Ozzie Martinez lofted a flyball into right that scored Jamile Weeks on third, giving the Cubs the lead. Justin Grimm pitched the bottom of the inning, mowing down the first two batters he faced. After walking Josh Rodriguez, he got Gavin Cecchini to ground out weakly back to the mound, ending the extra-inning contest.

ROSTER ALERT: Las Vegas 51s placed LF Jayce Boyd on the temporarily inactive list.

ROSTER ALERT: New York Mets optioned LF Brandon Nimmo to Las Vegas 51s.

Double-A - Binghamton Rumble Ponies (19-13)

BINGHAMTON 10, ALTOONA 2 (Box)

The weather is finally nice, and Binghamton was able to actually play a game, the first time since last Saturday that they got on the field. The bats were raring to go, as the Ponies plated ten runs, and Casey Delgado and the pitchers out of the bullpen had no problems curving the Curve hitters.

Advanced-A - St. Lucie Mets (17-22)

LAKELAND 2, ST. LUCIE 0 (Box)

Making his first start for a New York Mets affiliate since August 2015, Marcos Molina pitched well, giving up one run in four innings. Coverage was spotty in this early morning start, but his fastball sat at least 90-92 and his slider was working, registering multiple strikeouts with the frisbee-like pitch. Kevin Canelon took over for Molina when he was removed from the game in the fifth after about fifty pitches, and he, too, pitched well, allowing an unearned run in three innings. St. Lucie almost tied the game in the eighth inning when a well struck Jhoan Urena ball just went foul, robbing the Mets of what would have very likely been two runs. Urena instead struck out on a foul-tip, and the team went down in the next inning to end things.

ROSTER ALERT: St. Lucie Mets placed RF Jeff Diehl on the 7-day disabled list retroactive to May 14, 2017.

ROSTER ALERT: St. Lucie Mets activated RHP Marcos Molina from the 7-day disabled list

ROSTER ALERT: St. Lucie Mets placed RHP Justin Brantley on the 7-day disabled list.

ROSTER ALERT: Nick Sergakis assigned to Brooklyn Cyclones from St. Lucie Mets

ROSTER ALERT: Kevin Canelon assigned to St. Lucie Mets from Brooklyn Cyclones

ROSTER ALERT: Jose Garcia assigned to St. Lucie Mets from Columbia Fireflies

Low-A - Columbia Fireflies (20-17)

COLUMBIA 5, LAKELAND 4 (Box)

Lakeland took an early lead against Gabriel Llanes, but the offense bailed him out and the team was able to pull out a win, their third in the four-game series. Down 3-1, Tim Tebow got the Colaflies on the board in the fourth when Lakeland conceded the run and exchanged it for a double play, much the excitement of the multitude of fans that came to see Tebow, and Tebow alone. A few innings later, in the sixth, they took the lead when Milton Ramos hit a line drive into shallow center that allowed the aforementioned football-player-turned-“outfielder” and Ali Sanchez to score. Desmond Lindsey tried to score on the same play to give the Colaflies the lead, but was thrown out at the plate. In the seventh, Columbia was gifted the lead thanks to Lakewood’s fourth error, and that run would prove important when the Blueclaws scored a run in the bottom of the inning. Max Kuhns was able to finish things out without allowing further damage, earning his first save.

ROSTER ALERT: Jose Garcia assigned to St. Lucie Mets from Columbia Fireflies
