Final score: Mets 7, Angels 5—Two in a row

The Mets beat the Angels again.

MLB: Los Angeles Angels at New York Mets Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets beat the Angels again this evening, this time 7-5. Zack Wheeler was very good for five innings but struggled a bit in the sixth. Still, the Mets’ offense had built a 4-0 lead over the course of the first few innings of the game, and even when the Angels plated two runs in the sixth, things were going fairly well.

In the bottom of the eighth, Lucas Duda doubled with two outs and nobody on, and that turned into a three-run inning for the Mets. Those insurance runs proved to be very important, as the combination of Neil Ramirez—who loaded the bases—and Addison Reed allowed three runs to cross the plate for the Angels in the ninth before Reed struck out Danny Espinosa with the bases loaded to end the game.
