Triple-A - Las Vegas 51s (27-43)

RENO 7, LAS VEGAS 3 (Box)

Wilfredo Boscan was ineffective in his five innings of work and the 51s’ offense went 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position en route to a 7-3 loss to the Aces yesterday. Reno starter Anthony Banda walked seven in just 5.2 innings, but the 51s were unable to capitalize on his wildness. However, Josh Rodriguez and Jio Mier did each hit home runs yesterday to provide the Vegas offense. On a more disconcerting note, Hansel Robles allowed another home run in relief, his fourth in just 11.1 PCL innings.

Double-A - Binghamton Rumble Ponies (36-27)

BINGHAMTON 6, READING 2 (Box)

David Thompson hit two home runs and Chris Flexen threw seven outstanding innings as the Rumble Ponies defeated the Fightin Phils 6-2. The 22-year old Flexen allowed only one run on five hits and struck out eight while walking none, and hasn’t allowed a free pass in his three starts since being promoted to the Eastern League. Thompson has now hit home runs in back-to-back games after going nearly a month without hitting one.

Advanced-A - St. Lucie Mets (30-34)

NO GAME (ALL-STAR BREAK)

The Mets are back in action tonight in Daytona to play a doubleheader against the Tortugas. First pitch is 5:35 PM.

Low-A - Columbia Fireflies (40-27)

CHARLESTON 5, COLUMBIA 1 (Box)

The Colaflies struck out 13 times yesterday as they fell 5-1 to the RiverDogs. Dash Winningham’s first inning sacrifice fly gave Columbia a 1-0 lead and Gabriel Llanes protected it for five innings. However, Charleston was able to get to him in the sixth as four straight hits to start the inning plated two runs and gave the RiverDogs a lead they would never lose. Matt Blackham then allowed three more insurance runs in his 1.1 innings of relief to all but ensure defeat in this one. Michael Paez added three more hits yesterday and now has an .885 OPS, good for 7th in the South Atlantic League.
