The Mets lost their 42nd game of the season on Tuesday night, dropping the series opener to the Marlins by a score of 6-3. Robert Gsellman got roughed up in the first inning for three runs, and was pulled from the game after suffering a hamstring strain running to first base in the top of the fourth inning.
The Mets trailed 3-1 upon Gsellman’s departure, though Paul Sewald was able to keep the Marlins in check long enough for the Mets to tie the game in the top of the seventh. But in the bottom of the seventh, with some help of shoddy Mets defense, the Marlins took the lead right back by pushing three runs across against Jerry Blevins to take a 6-3 lead, and the Mets could not answer back after that.
Full recap to follow.
