Final Score: Mets 6, Marlins 3—Filet-o-Fish

The Mets made an early lead hold up to take a series from the Marlins.

MLB: New York Mets at Miami Marlins Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets got off to a fast start again in the top of the first, scoring two en route to a 6-3 win over the Marlins. Curtis Granderson only led off with a double this time, scoring on a clutch two-out single by Jay Bruce. T.J. Rivera followed with a double to score the hustling, winded Bruce.

The Mets added three more in the third. Granderson reached, leading off again, this time on a tough error on JT Riddle—who otherwise looked the part of a dark wizard on defense. Bruce and T.J. Rivera duplicated their first-inning RBIs, then Bruce showed off his wheels again, scoring on a semi-deep Jose Reyes sacrifice fly.

Seth Lugo looked like he would cruise from there, but for the second straight outing got into trouble in the sixth. This time he managed to work out of the inning, with the Mets holding on to a 5-3 lead. The Marlins had chances in each inning thereafter, but the Mets’ bullpen managed to keep them off the scoreboard the rest of the way to seal the game—and the series.
