GREENSBORO 4, COLUMBIA 1 (Box)
The Colaflies’ homestand got off to a rough start, as the offense went 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position, wasting several chances in their 4-1 defeat to the Grasshoppers. Greensboro jumped out to a quick lead in the top of the first against Harol Gonzalez, and never looked back. The loss was Columbia’s seventh in their last nine games.

MAHONING VALLEY 5, BROOKLYN 4 / 10 INNINGS (Box)
The Cyclones snatched defeat from the jaws of victory Wednesday, frittering away an early 4-0 lead to the Scrappers. Brooklyn’s bats went silent after putting up two runs in each of the second and third innings, as they wouldn’t record another hit until the ninth inning. By that time, Mahoning Valley had cut the lead to 4-2, and promptly tied it in the ninth inning. The Cyclones wasted a leadoff Franklin Correa triple in the top of the 10th, then watched the Scrappers walk it off on a Jason Rodriguez double.

PULASKI 5, KINGSPORT 4 (Box)
Starter Ezequiel Zabaleta struggled early against Pulaski. After the offense staked him to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first courtesy of a Jeremy Vasquez RBI double, Zabaleta surrendered two walks followed by a three-run jack to the first three batters he faced, and the Mets never quite recovered. Solo home runs by Vazquez and Anthony Dirocie in the top of the sixth cut the Yankee lead to 5-4, but the Pulaski bullpen held the fort the rest of the way.
