Meet the Mets
Adam Wainwright shut down the Mets for over six innings. Jay Bruce hit a home run in the seventh but overall the offense sputtered all afternoon. Paul DeJong had four extra-base hits against Met pitching and lead the charge to a Cardinals win.
Zack Wheeler was not dominant but it was still an encouraging start for the righty.
There was a bit of a scare when Brandon Nimmo was placed on the DL with a partially collapsed lung before the game.
With Nimmo on the DL, the Mets activated Michael Conforto although he did not appear in last night’s game.
Yoenis Cespedes had another tough day at the plate and is not offering any explanations about his struggles.
