Triple-A - Las Vegas 51s (46-75)

LAS VEGAS 7, EL PASO 4 (Box)

The Chihuahuas roughed up Mitch Atkins early on, but the offense evened things up in the fourth, plating four runs. The offense continued its assault on El Paso starter Bryan Rodriguez in the fifth, scoring two more runs and taking the lead. Jayce Boyd, who had himself a game, tacked on one more run in the ninth, but Ben Rowen and Alberto Baldonado locked things down.

Double-A - Binghamton Rumble Ponies (68-49)

AKRON 4, BINGHAMTON 0 (Box)

Coming off a shutout on Saturday evening, the Rumble Ponies got shut out yet again, dropping their third consecutive game. Akron scored a pair of runs in the first thanks to errors by Gustavo Nunez and Tomas Nido, uncharacteristic of the pair, who have 5 and 2 errors on the year, respectively. Corey Oswalt got into a groove and kept the RubberDucks off balance, but in the fourth, they scored another two runs. In total, Oswalt allowed four runs- two earned- on six hits over six innings, getting tagged with his first loss since May 20. Matt Whitehouse, meanwhile, looked good against the Rumble Pony offense, scattering four hits over seven innings.

Advanced-A - St. Lucie Mets (20-30/53-65)

TAMPA 3, ST. LUCIE 0 (Box)

Michael Paez was the only player who managed to get a hit yesterday afternoon, spoiling Tampa's no-hit bid with a two out single in the eighth that centerfielder Estevan Florial nearly caught with a shoe string catch. Making a spot start, Kevin Canelon was respectable over four innings, scattering two hits and a walk while striking out three, but Stephen Nogosek allowed a pair of runs to score, giving Tampa the edge.

Low-A - Columbia Fireflies (19-30/59-58)

HICKORY 7, COLUMBIA 4 (Box)

Justin Brantley gave manager Jose Leger innings, but he wasn’t particularly good, giving up five runs over six innings. The Colaflies scratched across a few runs, making it a 5-3 ballgame, but Matt Pobereyko and Cameron Griffin allowed runs in the eighth and ninth, giving the Crawdads a 7-3 lead. Columbia put up a fight in the ninth, scoring a run in the bottom of the ninth and loading up the bases and putting up a bunch of great, long at-bats. With one out, Jay Jab hit a shallow fly ball for the second out. Luis Carpio attempted to Leody Taveras, who caught the ball, but he wasn’t fooled…but Jacob Zanon on second base was. Zanon broke for second, forcing Carpio to break for home in a gambit to save the game. Zanon made it to third but Carpio was tagged out, the ol’ 8-1-6-2 double play to end the game. With their win, Hickory completed the four-game sweep of the Colaflies, who are one game removed from dropping to only .500 after their excellent first half.

· RHP Cameron Griffin: 1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K

Short-A - Brooklyn Cyclones (15-37)

HUDSON VALLEY 2, BROOKLYN 1 (Box)

For seven innings, Brooklyn and Hudson Valley held each other in check. In the eighth, Jeremy Vasquez led off with a double, was moved up to third, and scored on a Jeremy Wolf single. Stephen Villines, who has otherwise been money for the Cyclones, was unable to protect the slim 1-0 lead, allowing a single to lead off the bottom of the eighth and then giving up a home run to right fielder Oscar Rojas, his first of the season. The Cyclones made things a little interesting when Cecilio Aybar and Walter Rasquin both reached base with no outs, but thanks to some nifty defense, the Renegades were able to hold on, sweeping Brooklyn.

Rookie - Kingsport Mets (22-28)

GREENEVILLE 5, KINGSPORT 4 (Box)

Kingsport was in control, leading by two runs in the seventh, but Yeudy Colon had a meltdown in the seventh, giving up three runs and the lead, allowing the Astros to come from behind to win. Ronnie Sanchez was nothing special over his five innings, but the offense was locked in and the right-hander seemed poised to win his first game of the season, but it was not to be

· LF Raphael Gladu: 1-2, 3 BB

· SS Hansel Moreno: 2-4, R, RBI, K, E (14); In addition to notching two hits, Moreno made two highlight-reel leaping catches in the fourth.

Rookie - GCL Mets (14-26)

The GCL Mets pitching staff only allowed two runs, but those two runs were all the GCL Astros needed to win. Shortstop Alfredo Angarita singled, stole second, and then came home to score in the fifth off of Briam Campusano to put the Astros on the board, and third baseman Wander Franco grounded into a double play that scored second baseman Enmanuel Valdez in the eighth. Though the offense wasn’t able to break through, scoring just one run in the ninth, both Domingo Martinez and Luis Montero had multi-hit days
