Final score: Yankees 5, Mets 3—Signal problems

The Mets lost to the Yankees again.

For the third time in as many nights, the Mets lost to the Yankees, this time by a 5-3 score. Although the Mets scored first and went on to tie the game at two and three runs after falling behind, they did not come back from the two-out, two-run double that Didi Gregorius hit with the bases loaded in the seventh inning.

Robert Gsellman fared decently in his first start in a while, but he finished the night with three runs allowed in five-and-one-third innings. The third of those runs scored when Paul Sewald inherited a bases-loaded jam from Gsellman and induced a bases-loaded sac fly before escaping the sixth inning, sparing Gsellman any more runs on his record. But it was Sewald who pitched the seventh and loaded the bases himself before giving up the aforementioned double.

And oh, by the way, Aaron Judge hit a moon shot into the upper deck in left field in this game, something you will obviously not hear all about ad nauseam for the next few hours, days, weeks, months, or years.

Full recap to follow.
