Final score: Dodgers 7, Mets 4—There is a loss, turn, turn, turn

The Mets lost another game in their lost season.

MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers at New York Mets Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

Despite hitting three home runs in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead, the Mets gave up seven runs to the Dodgers between the sixth and ninth innings and scored just once more after the home run barrage and lost 7-4 on Saturday evening. Seth Lugo was good until he wasn’t, carrying a no-hitter for a few innings before he gave up three runs in the sixth.

Paul Sewald gave up two runs in one-and-one-third innings, Jerry Blevins was the only Mets pitcher not charged with any runs in two-thirds of an inning, and Fernando Salas continued his awful season with a couple of runs allowed in one-and-one-third of his own. That leaves the Mets open to getting swept on national television tonight as they play the series finale.
