The Mets were completely outclassed Sunday night on national television in their series finale with the Dodgers, and lost their fourth-straight game by a score of 8-0. The Mets lost all seven games they played against Los Angeles this season, and fell to 11 games under .500 for the first time since July 5, 2014.
The Mets managed just two measley baserunners the whole game. A Travis d’Arnaud third-inning single and a Brandon Nimmo walk in the ninth made up the entirety of the team’s offense.
Steven Matz took the mound for the Mets, and his struggles continued, as he got roughed up early by the best lineup in the National League. Matz served up three runs in the first inning, and two more in the third. He pitched into the sixth inning and struck out seven, but allowed five runs and six hits and two walks. His ERA now sits at 5.77.
