In their final game in Atlanta this season, the Mets came out on top of the Braves 5-1. The Mets scored twice off of Julio Teheran, then added three more runs in the ninth off of reliever Jose Ramirez. Robert Gsellman was excellent, allowing only an unearned run and three hits over seven innings. He struck out three and walked none, and would have had a shutout if not for errors on back-to-back plays by Amed Rosario in the bottom of the seventh. Jerry Blevins and AJ Ramos kept things calm in relief, locking down the win with a scoreless inning each.
On the offensive side, the Mets got off to a fast start against Teheran, scoring on three walks, a triple, and a ground out to build an early 2-0 lead. After the Braves cut the lead to one, the Mets rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth. Phillip Evans drove in Amed Rosario with a double for his first career RBI, and Asdrubal Cabrera followed that up with a two-run home run.
The win improves the Mets to 65-84. They’ll head to Miami to start a three game series against the Marlins with Matt Harvey on the mound on Monday.
Full recap to follow.
