Strikeout rates in baseball are at an all-time high. In fact, at the current pace, 2017 will be the tenth consecutive year in which the league-wide K/9 rate sets an all-time record. For this week’s Mind Boggler, we’re asking you to name every pitcher in Mets history with at least 10 K/9 in a single season.
Every pitcher in Mets history with at least 10 K/9 in a season (min. 50 IP)
We’re putting the minimum innings threshold at 50, so that relievers are included. Limiting the pool to starting pitchers would’ve made this far too easy for AA’s knowledgeable readers. As a tip, keep your focus on relievers, with the exception of the few starters with big-time strikeout rates.
The 2017 Mets have three pitchers—Josh Smoker, Jacob deGrom, and Hansel Robles—who meet the criteria. However, we’ll leave them off of here for now since there’s still time for their strikeout rates to change.
You’ll have three minutes for this quiz. Good luck, and remember to post your time and score in the comments!
