The Mets get swept in Miami

The Marlins defeated the Mets this afternoon at Marlins Park, 7-2, completing the series sweep. The Mets have now lost seven of their last nine games as they head into the final ten games of the season.

Rafael Montero started for the Mets and gave up a lot of contact, which resulted in five runs in his four innings. Erik Goeddel got rocked for four runs in his one-third on an inning. Justin Bour, A.J. Ellis, Miguel Rojas, and Giancarlo Stanton all homered for the Marlins, and Marcell Ozuna and Stanton also singling in runs.

The Mets’ offense came in the form of a Travis d’Arnaud RBI single in the fifth and a Brandon Nimmo solo home run in the seventh inning. Marlins starter Jose Urena went eight innings, striking out three, walking none, and giving up seven hits. Chris O’Grady pitched the ninth for Miami and, though allowing two base runners, got through the inning unscathed.
