You’d be forgiven if you thought that the R.A. Dickey that took the field in Flushing tonight was fresh off his 2012 Cy Young season - he just happened to be playing for the wrong team. Dickey held the Mets in check through most of the evening, allowing three hits over six and two thirds innings until Kevin Plawecki ended his night with a two run homer to left field.

Rafael Montero on the other hand did not fair quite so well. Montero seemed to lack confidence in his pitches, ceding three runs early - most notably a pair of which in the second inning. He calmed down somewhat after, going six innings and at the minimum having a quality start.

The Mets rallied back to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly from Asdrubal Cabrera. Travis Taijeron was the unlikely hero of the night, hitting a walk off single to plate Juan Lagares and give the Mets the win.

Full recap to follow.
