The Mets got on the board early and held on until the rains came for a 6-3 win over the Phillies at Citi Field.
Asdrubal Cabrera drove home Jose Reyes to put the Mets on the board in the first, and the next batter, Travis d’Arnaud, homered to right-center field to give the Mets a 3-0 lead. They added single runs in the second, third, and fifth, with the first coming on a Robert Gsellman RBI single and the latter two coming on Brandon Nimmo sacrifice flies.
The Phillies clawed back with three runs in the top of the sixth, but rain stalled the game in the bottom of the sixth and the teams never returned to the field.
Gsellman struck out four and allowed three runs on five hits and a walk in six innings of work.
