The Mets won their third straight game on Friday, besting the Reds by a score of 5-0. Seth Lugo took the mound and delivered one of his best outings of the season, firing six shutout innings while only allowing four hits and one walk. He struck out four on the night.
The Mets don’t have their big home run hitters that they started the season with anymore, but the team is still hitting homers. They slugged three home runs for the second straight game, the first coming from Travis Taijeron which was his first MLB home run, and the other two coming from Jose Reyes.
The bullpen behind Lugo continued to stifle the Reds down until the ninth, when they pushed a run across on a sacrifice fly, but A.J. Ramos shut the door after that.
Full recap to follow.
