Meet the Mets

Happy New Year Amazin’ Avenue readers! Good, bad, or indifferent here’s to another year of Mets’ baseball!

Our beloved Citi Field will host the New York Rangers and Buffalo Sabres for the 2018 Winter Classic, and so far it seems to have been a good choice for the event.

The infield has been completely transformed, and the Mets’ locker room has been taken over by local kid, and Mets fan, Kevin Shattenkirk along with the rest of the Rangers.

While two other teams are playing in their home, the Mets can use 2018 as a clean slate and move forward from the disastrous 2017.

Around the National League East

After being terrible the past few seasons, the Phillies could show some promise this year.

The Nationals still have never won a playoff series, but could that change in 2018? Bryce Harper’s brother, Bryan, is in Washington’s farm system, and if he makes the team, could it convince Bryce to stay in the nation’s capitol?

Around Major League Baseball

Players took to social media to say goodbye 2017 as well as look to the year ahead.

Despite some turnover with eligible Hall of Fame voters, it appears Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens will once again fall short of getting into Cooperstown.

The Red Sox will have to wait for slugger J.D. Martinez to make a decision before they can make any other moves this offseason.

The Brewers have shown some interest in free agent Alex Cobb.

The Yankees have now added their names to the list of teams interested in Yu Darvish.

Yesterday at Amazin’ Avenue

Allison McCague thinks Andrew Cashner could be worth a look for the Mets.
