Mets Morning News: At least the weather is less frigid

Your Monday morning dose of New York Mets and MLB news, notes, and links.

St Louis Cardinals v New York Mets

Meet the Mets

The front office still has some major work to do, considering the projected Opening Day lineup, and the question marks surrounding the team.

Mickey Callaway is just one of six new managerial hires in the majors, but he isn’t in the best position to win out of those six.

Noah Syndergaard is a huge Game of Thrones fan, but when he took a picture with a slithering creature he revealed which house at Hogwarts he would belong to.

Syndergaard also volunteered some time at Reds’ prospect Hunter Greene’s leadership camp and chatted briefly about how this offseason has been going.

Around the National League East

If the Braves were to trade for J.T. Realmuto and Christian Yelich it would certainly cost them a lot in terms of prospects, but the reward might make it worth it.

Phillies’ third baseman Maikel Franco was suspended three games in the Dominican Winter League for staying out too late partying.

The Nationals could also trade with the Marlins for Realmuto and Yelich but it would most likely cost them top prospect Victor Robles. They have also shown some interest in signing reliever Greg Holland.

Around Major League Baseball

The Mets could certainly use help in the outfield, and Lorenzo Cain’s profile suggests he would be a welcome addition to any ballclub.

The Red Sox were lacking power last season, but even without acquiring any outside talent, they could increase their home run total by becoming more aggressive at the plate.

The Dodgers signed pitcher Zach Neal to a minor league contract.
